Lukashenko: China, Iran show interest in Belarus-Russia interregional cooperation
China and Iran are showing growing interest in the Belarusian-Russian model of interregional cooperation, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
During a session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia held in Moscow on February 26, Lukashenko said that events within the framework of the regions are very important, Caliber.Az reports via the Belarusian state agency.
“Today, the Chinese have already suggested: ‘Let’s work according to the principle of your work with Russia – a region with regions.’ Iran mentioned about half a year ago that they want this kind of cooperation as well,” the president noted.
The head of state stressed that people on the ground can better understand local needs. He expressed gratitude for the fact that the process had been initiated and that parliamentarians, particularly senators, are taking care of it.
Lukashenko also voiced hope that the Russian government will remain committed to building the Union State and that all arrangements and decisions made at joint events will be fulfilled.
