Macron booed at during military parade on Bastille Day
French President Emmanuel Macron was booed during his ride along the Champs Elysees during the traditional military parade in honour of the country's main national holiday Bastille Day.
In the crowd gathered along the street, were also heard shouts of "Macron to resign,” France’s BFMTV TV channel reports.
Earlier, the French government faced sharp criticism because of the introduction of pension reform. The situation was also exacerbated by the recent riots that erupted after a police officer killed a 17-year-old.
In particular, public attention was drawn to the fact that the French leader decided to convene a crisis group only on the third day of the riots.
At the same time, the president himself went to the EU summit in Brussels at the height of the protests, but the trip still had to be interrupted early due to the worsening of the situation.
