Israeli military strike kills 20 civilians awaiting aid in Gaza
In a tragic incident, the Israeli military struck civilians waiting for humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 20 Palestinians.
The attack occurred in the central part of the enclave near the Netzarim Corridor, a location where many Palestinians had gathered in hopes of receiving much-needed assistance, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
Around 246 others were wounded in the attack.
Earlier, Hamas-controlled organisations in the Gaza Strip report that more than 50 people were killed in a shooting near a food distribution point in the Khan Younis area. Israel has acknowledged that an incident occurred but has not confirmed any casualties at this time. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the event.
Palestinian sources claim that Israeli forces fired on an area east of Khan Younis, where thousands of people had gathered to receive humanitarian aid. According to Palestinian rescuers and medical personnel, at least 51 people were killed and over 200 wounded. The Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health reports that the injured have been taken to Nasser Hospital, which is so overcrowded that patients are being treated on the floor.
