Macron's “poisoned gift” to opposition
French President Emmanuel Macron has framed the opposition ahead of the 2027 presidential election by announcing the dissolution of the National Assembly (lower house of parliament), Florian Philippot, leader of the Patriots party, said.
“This is a kind of ‘poisoned gift’ to the opposition to blame its problems on it and make it impossible for it to win the presidential election in 2027,” the politician noted, Caliber.Az reported citing Russian media.
French President Emmanuel Macron's decision to dissolve the National Assembly is being described as both historic and completely unexpected.
This bold move poses significant risks for Macron, representing a critical juncture for his political career.
Having lost its parliamentary majority in the 2022 elections, Macron's Renaissance faces the possibility of further setbacks in the upcoming snap elections. A poor showing could lead to additional losses for his party.
