Macron, South Korean president discuss stabilising Strait of Hormuz
03 April 2026 10:19
On April 3, French President Emmanuel Macron met with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in Seoul, Bloomberg reports.
Macron expressed willingness to cooperate with South Korea to stabilise the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, but stressed that such efforts could only take place after hostilities have ceased.
The French president noted that he had discussed developments in the Middle East and sees opportunities for “constructive steps” in the region once the bombing campaign ends. He also emphasised both countries’ commitment to strengthening strategic and defence ties.
Macron arrived in South Korea on April 2 for a two-day visit following a trip to Tokyo.
