Macron welcomes Trump’s efforts to de-escalate Middle East crisis
French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump to discuss the situation in the Middle East and possible paths toward de-escalation, Macron said in a post on X.
During the call, the French leader welcomed Trump’s efforts to quickly reach an agreement between the United States and Iran, which could pave the way for a new regional security architecture involving all relevant stakeholders and contribute to greater stability in the region.

Macron also said France is prepared to support these initiatives and assume part of the responsibility for their implementation. He noted that this could involve an international mission formed jointly with the United Kingdom and other partners, which could be deployed after an agreement is reached to help ensure the security of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
“We are also ready to provide our expertise and capabilities for broader negotiations that should be launched, particularly regarding the nuclear aspect of the agreement.
Finally, I welcomed President Trump’s commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon and stressed the importance of a durable ceasefire and our collective support for the Lebanese authorities,” the French leader wrote.
