Masdar aims to make more inroads into Azerbaijan’s renewable energy market
Head of Development and Investment Department for Central Asia and Russia at Masdar Company of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abdulla Zayed, has said that the Company aimed to expand its activities in Azerbaijan in the solar and wind energy sectors.
He made the relevant statement at the 27th Baku Energy Week forum on June 2, according to Trend.
“We launched contacts with the government of Azerbaijan in 2018, and we are very pleased that the Ministry of Energy [of Azerbaijan] involved us in the work on the solar energy project,” Zayed said.
Masdar representative noted that an agreement on the Garadagh solar power plant project with an installed capacity of 230 megawatts was signed in January 2020. The implementation of this project will reduce CO2 emissions to 2,000 tons per year and provide electricity to 110,000 households.
