Media: Drone attack targets Progress machine-building plant in Russia’s Tambov PHOTO / VIDEO
A major industrial facility in Russia’s Tambov region was struck overnight in what local authorities have described as a drone attack.
The Michurinsk-based Progress Plant, which manufactures equipment for aviation and missile control systems, was reportedly the primary target, according to an OSINT analysis by ASTRA.
Nearby, a supermarket belonging to the Magnit chain partially burned during the incident. ASTRA noted that images of the fire were taken from Lermontov Street, approximately 200 metres from the site.
Later reports confirmed that the Industrial and Technological College, located roughly 150 metres from the factory, also caught fire following the drone strike.
The governor stated, “The attack by Ukrainian UAVs caused a fire in the college workshops. The blaze has been extinguished. There are no casualties. Students from the dormitory were evacuated to a local children’s hospital.”
Analysis suggests that the strike may have also affected Michurinsk-Uralsky railway station, the city’s main train hub. Footage of the site, taken from Parkovaya Street about 1.3 kilometres away, shows a blaze, though it is unclear what is burning.
The Progress Plant is a key high-tech industrial enterprise, producing equipment for aviation and missile control systems, civil electrical machinery, and equipment for gas and oil pipelines.
