Media: Hamas executes "Israeli spies" amid renewed Gaza conflict
Hamas has reportedly been executing individuals suspected of collaborating with Israel following a wave of targeted killings that have severely impacted the group's leadership.
Hamas' counterintelligence services have intensified efforts to identify and punish alleged informants in response to Israel’s renewed military operations in Gaza, Caliber.Az reports per Asharq Al-Awsat.
The group is said to have established so-called "revolutionary courts" in areas where senior Hamas figures have been assassinated. While the exact number of executions remains undisclosed, sources within the movement confirmed that the killings have dealt a significant blow to Hamas at the political, military, and administrative levels, prompting stricter security measures.
Israeli intelligence services are said to have taken advantage of previous ceasefires to rebuild their networks and update their list of targets. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet have reportedly ramped up surveillance operations using drones and widespread electronic eavesdropping to identify and track Hamas operatives.
Sources claim that voice recordings from entire districts are being compared with past archives to locate individuals.
Hamas security vulnerabilities have also been exposed during public events, with military parades and hostage-release ceremonies allegedly providing Israeli intelligence with opportunities to identify fighters and field commanders.
Many vehicles targeted in Israeli strikes had been used in such parades, sources said. Hamas officials reportedly confirmed that several field commanders were assassinated after taking part in these ceremonies.
The collapse of Hamas’ underground tunnel network has further weakened the group’s ability to evade Israeli surveillance. With much of its fortified infrastructure destroyed, senior commanders are struggling to manage the conflict remotely, leading to a new wave of Israeli strikes targeting key figures.
