Media: Iranian strike on Kuwait airbase damages two US drones
An Iranian ballistic missile strike on an airbase in Kuwait has damaged US military equipment and left several personnel with minor injuries, according to Bloomberg, which cited a person familiar with the matter.
The report said the missile targeted Ali Al-Salem Air Base, where Kuwaiti air defences reportedly intercepted a Fateh-110 missile. However, debris from the interception fell within the base perimeter.
Around five individuals, including contractors and active-duty US personnel, were said to have sustained light injuries.
One MQ-9 Reaper drone was destroyed in the incident, while at least one other suffered significant damage. Each aircraft is estimated to be worth around $30 million.
Bloomberg reported that the strike came as US President Donald Trump was considering a potential agreement to extend a ceasefire arrangement with Iran. It added that no decisions were reached during a two-hour meeting held in the White House Situation Room.
The report further noted that the ongoing confrontation with Iran is believed to be placing strain on US stocks of precision-guided munitions, including cruise missiles and air defence systems.
According to the latest Pentagon figures cited in the report, 14 US personnel have been killed and more than 400 injured since the start of the campaign.
