Media: Israel closes airspace north of Hadera city
Israel has decided to close its airspace north of the city of Hadera in response to rising tensions along the border with Lebanon.
The escalation follows the killing of Fuad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah commander, in an Israeli strike on Beirut on July 30, Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian media.
Hadera is situated in Israel's Northern District, roughly midway between Tel Aviv and Haifa, making it a key city in the northern region of the country.
Israel says it has killed a top Hezbollah commander after carrying out an air strike on a southern suburb of the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
The Israeli military says Fuad Shukr was the target of an "intelligence-based elimination". Hezbollah has not yet confirmed his death, but says Shukhr was in a building that was hit at the time.
Israeli officials say he was responsible for a rocket attack on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on July 20 which killed 12 people, mostly children. Hezbollah has denied any involvement in that attack.
