Media: Lebanon fires 10 projectiles at Israel
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has announced a new shelling from Lebanon aimed at Haifa, the biggest city in northern Israel.
Approximately 10 projectiles were fired in this direction, Caliber.Az reports, citing IDF.
Most of the rockets were intercepted, with at least one projectile landing in an open area. No reports of casualties have emerged.
On October 13, a Hezbollah drone attack on an army base in central Israel resulted in the deaths of four soldiers and left seven others severely injured, according to the Israeli military. This marks the deadliest strike from the militant group since Israel began its ground invasion of Lebanon nearly two weeks ago.
Hezbollah described the attack near Binyamina as retaliation for Israeli airstrikes on Beirut on October 10, which killed 22 people. The group claimed to have targeted Israel’s elite Golani brigade, launching numerous missiles to overwhelm Israeli air defence systems during the drone assault. Israel's national rescue service reported that the attack injured 61 individuals.
Given Israel's advanced air-defence capabilities, it is unusual for so many casualties to occur from drone or missile strikes. Since the onset of the Gaza war, Hezbollah and Israel have engaged in nearly daily exchanges of fire, with recent fighting escalating significantly.
