Media: Number of high-ranking Armenian officials to be detained soon
Director of the National Security Service of Armenia Armen Abazyan made remarkable statements during the closed-door discussion of the budget execution report in the parliament the previous day.
According to Caliber.Az, Yerevan-based Hraparak newspaper wrote that the main topic of the closed session was drug trafficking, which has become a threat to security in Armenia.
"The NSS director admitted that not only the volume of drug sales has increased several times but also the dangerous spread of drug addiction among minors. He assured that they have found a way to combat it and are taking active measures.
In this context, Abazyan said that a number of officials who are involved in this business in one way or another are expected to be detained in the near future.
He also referred to the drugs smuggled into Armenia and stated firmly that Mihran Poghosyan is wanted and will surely be extradited to Armenia and arrested. From the words of the NSS Director, those present understood that although Poghosyan had sent several appeals - a video, stating that he had contributed to the detection of drugs in 'Mrgeni' LLC, nevertheless, he was directly involved in smuggling drugs," the newspaper wrote.
