Media: Terrorist threat looming over Europe
Following the outbreak of the conflict with Iran, a small pro-Iranian group called HAYI has become active in Europe, claiming responsibility for a series of explosions in France and other EU countries, BFMTV reports, citing sources.
French intelligence services believe this may be a “cover” operation linked to Tehran, operating through a network of intermediaries and partially autonomous cells, despite the weakening of Iran’s military leadership.
France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office has linked the attempted bombing near the Bank of America office in Paris on March 28 to HAYI’s activities. However, no direct evidence of a connection to Iran has yet been established, though intelligence services consider this a working hypothesis.
According to the investigation, since March 2026, the group has claimed responsibility for around 15 incidents across various European countries, including explosions near Jewish and American targets in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and elsewhere.
Sources note that HAYI uses social media and Telegram for threats and coordination, as well as symbolism similar to Shiite paramilitary structures in the region. European intelligence services are also considering the possibility of recruitment through criminal networks and “sleeper cells.”
The investigation is ongoing, while Europe is stepping up monitoring of individuals who may be linked to Iranian structures or the Hezbollah organisation.
