Media: US deploys nearly all stealth long-range missiles against Iran
The United States has deployed almost its entire stock of JASSM-ER long-range stealth missiles against Iran, Bloomberg reports, citing a source familiar with the matter.
At the end of March, an order was issued to move the missiles from the Pacific region to US Central Command bases or to Fairford in the United Kingdom.
After the transfers, the US will have 425 missiles remaining, down from approximately 2,300 before the conflict with Iran. An additional 75 warheads are considered defective.
The JASSM-ER, or Joint Air-to-Surface Missile-Extended Range, is capable of traveling over 600 miles, allowing it to strike targets from a distance that keeps aircraft safer from enemy defenses.
In contrast, the standard JASSM has a range of roughly 250 miles, and the source noted that around two-thirds of the US stockpile has already been allocated for operations related to Iran.
