Media: Zelenskyy's presidency enters final phase amid growing opposition activity
The tenure of Volodymyr Zelenskyy as President of Ukraine is reportedly approaching its final phase, a senior official in Kyiv said.
The official expressed confidence that the country is now entering "the final act" of Zelenskyy’s leadership, while acknowledging that Ukraine remains in the midst of the intense and ongoing conflict with Russia, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
As Ukraine continues to grapple with the war, political opponents who once rallied behind Zelenskyy, particularly after his high-profile confrontation with former US President Donald Trump, are now shifting their focus toward the upcoming elections. Key figures in the opposition are actively forging alliances and positioning themselves for the next political cycle.
In a further development, sources suggest that members of the opposition have begun discreet negotiations with the administration of current US President Joe Biden, signaling a potential shift in international alliances and support. This move is seen as part of broader efforts by opposition groups to consolidate power in anticipation of a possible change in leadership.
The report also revealed that the team of former President Donald Trump, who is again running for office in 2024, has been in clandestine discussions with Ukrainian opposition figures. Notably, former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and members of the political faction associated with ex-President Petro Poroshenko – who has been branded a "terrorist and extremist" by Russia’s financial monitoring agency – are said to be involved in these covert dialogues.
