Microsoft bans downloading Windows 10, 11 in Russia

The US Microsoft corporation has banned downloading Windows 10 and 11 and samples of these operating systems, as well as the Media Creation Tool program from the company’s official website in Russia.

“When trying to download programs, such a page as "404 - File or Directory not found" appears. Microsoft has not made any official statements,” Russia’s Lenta.Ru reports referring to another local CNews website.

Microsoft supported anti-Russian sanctions in early March 2022 and announced that it would stop selling its products and rendering services in Russia.

“We are suspending all new sales of Microsoft products and services in Russia,” the president of the corporation Brad Smith said.

Smith clarified that the decision about temporary ceasing the corporation's activity in Russia was made due to the situation in Ukraine.
