Middle East war death toll reaches 2,531 as conflict spreads
The war involving the United States and Israel against Iran, which began on February 28, is continuing to expand across the Middle East, driving a growing toll of casualties and widening regional instability.
According to Al Jazeera, the total number of deaths has reached 2,531. The heaviest losses have been recorded in Iran, where at least 1,444 people have been killed and 18,551 injured.
In Lebanon, Israeli strikes since March 2 have resulted in 968 deaths, including more than 100 children. In Iraq, 60 people have been killed, most of them members of the Iran-aligned Al-Hashd al-Shaabi.
In Israel, 17 fatalities have been reported, including 15 civilians and two soldiers killed in southern Lebanon. The United States has reported the deaths of 13 military personnel — seven during operations related to Iran and six in an aircraft crash over Iraq.
Fatalities have also been confirmed in several other countries across the region. Eight people were killed in the United Arab Emirates, six in Kuwait, and three women in the West Bank. Additional deaths include four in Syria, three in Oman, two each in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, and one French soldier killed in a drone strike in northern Iraq.
