Minister: Türkiye to hold ground operation in Syria as soon as possible
The ground operation of the Turkish armed forces in Syria will begin as soon as possible.
A meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party was held under the chairmanship of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on November 25, according to Yeni Safak.
The main topic of the meeting was the fight against terrorism. Turkish National Defence Minister Hulusi Akar and Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu delivered reports.
Akar stated that the ground operation would be carried out "as soon as possible", and that it was impossible to obtain "the desired support, both from Russia and from the US, regarding the air Operation Pence-Kılıc (Claw-Sword) in northern Syria".
The minister noted that nevertheless, the air operation was successful.
“In this process, the US hypocritical attitude has been criticised. During an air operation in Syria, the US warned Türkiye "not to enter there as the area is under its control". Nevertheless, the operation was underway,” the message said.
