Montenegro proposes halting visa agreement for Russian citizens
Montenegro is a loyal partner of the European Union (EU), therefore the country needs to limit entry for Russians.
Montenegrin Foreign Minister Ranko Krivokapic made the statement, according to Dan daily.
The Ministry told Dan that if the Montenegrin government supports the Minister's proposal, the Russian citizens will be able to enter the country only on the basis of visas.
Now, Russian citizens may stay in Montenegro without a visa for 30 days (previously allowed to stay for 90 days) with a valid passport. To stay in the state's territory for a longer period, the Russians must obtain a multi-entry visa for three months at the Embassy of Montenegro.
On the 9th of September EU finally decided to entirely suspend the simplified visa regime with Russia, which will come into force on September 12. European Commissioner Ilva Johansson said that Europe no longer had any reason to trust Russians.
