Moody's evaluates Azerbaijan’s financial rating at investors’ request
Azerbaijan currently cooperates with international rating agencies, such as Standard & Poor's and Fitch Ratings, Azer Mursagulov, director of the Agency for Managing Public Debt and Financial Obligations under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance said.
Mursagulov stressed that there is no cooperation agreement with Moody's, according to Report.
“Nevertheless, Moody's still evaluates and publishes our rating, because many investors are interested in Azerbaijan,” he added. “Therefore, Moody's publishes our rating every year even without an agreement with Azerbaijan."
Mursagulov stressed that many countries cooperate with at least two rating agencies in accordance with international practice.
“If earlier credit rating agencies made assessments once a year, now they publish the corresponding reports twice a year,” he said. “All investors follow this process and regularly compare the information we provide.”
Mursagulov stressed that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) also consults with Azerbaijan once a year and publishes reports.
