Great Return: 37 families receive keys to homes in Khojavand’s Girmizi Bazar UPDATED / PHOTO

Another phase of resettlement under the First State Program of the Great Return has been implemented in the Girmizi Bazar settlement of the Khojavand district, with 37 families comprising 169 people arriving in the morning and being handed the keys to their homes.

Families were briefed in detail by ANAMA representatives on the dangers posed by landmines and unexploded ordnance after being welcomed, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Officials from the Office of the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli and Khojavand districts, along with representatives of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons and other officials, attended the key handover ceremony.

Former internally displaced persons expressed gratitude to the country’s leadership for the conditions provided, offered prayers for the souls of the martyrs who liberated the lands from occupation, and wished good health to Azerbaijan’s veterans.

In Mammadbayli village of Zangilan district, recently liberated from occupation, the next relocation process has been carried out with 29 families totalling 147 people, and the keys to their houses have been handed over to them.

After the new residents were welcomed, ANAMA employees provided detailed information about the dangers posed by mines and unexploded ordnance, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The families joyfully received the keys and settled into their homes.

Officials from the Special Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts, the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, and other officials attended the key handover ceremony.

Another group of former internally displaced families has departed for the villages of Shushakend and Khanyurdu in the Khojaly district, the settlement of Girmizi Bazar in the Khojavand district, and the village of Mammadbayli in the Zangilan district.

At this stage, 20 families comprising 83 people are returning to Shushakend, 12 families with 50 people to Khanyurdu, 37 families totalling 169 people to Girmizi Bazar, and 29 families with 147 people to Mammadbayli, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

Previously, these families had been temporarily housed in dormitories, sanatoriums, children’s camps, unfinished buildings, and administrative facilities.

Following the decisive victory of the Azerbaijani Army in the Patriotic War under the leadership of President of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, former internally displaced persons have gained the opportunity to return to their homeland voluntarily, safely, and with dignity after 30 years.

Residents expressed gratitude to the head of state and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva for comprehensive state support, thanked the brave Azerbaijani Army for liberating the lands from occupation, and honoured the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for this cause.
