Moscow calls on PACE to focus on Middle East migrants
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova has said that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) should now focus on the issue of the influx of migrants against the backdrop of the Palestinian-Israeli crisis, and not think about Russia.
Thus, the diplomat commented on the PACE resolution calling to recognise Russian President Vladimir Putin as an illegitimate president after the end of his term in 2024, Caliber.Az reports, citing Sputnik Radio.
"The only thing this structure should be concerned about now is analysing what awaits their countries in the near future in the form of a colossal influx of migrants," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
She stressed that it is no longer just about the comfortable life of Europeans or security issues, but a global humanitarian catastrophe is expected.
According to Zakharova, Western Europe, the space of the European Union, could be the place of the catalyst of such a catastrophe.
The diplomat pointed out that after the conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa, Europe has already received a huge number of migrants, refugees and criminals.
