Moscow maintains dialogue with Paris, other EU states silent, says Kremlin
Russia maintains diplomatic contacts with Paris that, if needed, could quickly enable high-level dialogue, the Kremlin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.
Speaking at a briefing, Peskov confirmed Moscow’s readiness to engage with France, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“Indeed, there have been contacts (we can confirm this), which, if desired and necessary, could help establish high-level dialogue fairly promptly. So far, we have not received any indications that such a desire exists,” he said.
Peskov noted that Moscow positively received statements by French President Emmanuel Macron emphasizing the importance of restoring relations with Russia. “We took note of President Macron’s remarks and view them favorably,” he added.
However, Peskov stressed that other European capitals have yet to follow Paris’ lead. “As for other European capitals, no such initiatives have been made so far,” he said, highlighting that countries currently in confrontation with Moscow have not shown interest in resuming diplomatic contacts.
