NATO experts have conducted a thorough assessment of Azerbaijani servicemen’s operational readiness as part of the ongoing Individual Partnership Cooperation Programme (IPCP) with the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The second coordination meeting of the Partner Capacity Coherence Initiative took place in Baku, with experts from NATO’s Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum and specialists from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence in attendance, Caliber.Az reports via Defence Ministry.
During the meeting, Major General Vugar Aliverdiyev highlighted the regular training courses conducted under the IPCP, which aim to familiarise Azerbaijani military personnel with NATO standards, operational planning, command-and-control procedures, and the execution of NATO-format exercises. These courses, led by NATO’s Mobile Training Team, are a key component of enhancing Azerbaijan's military capabilities in line with NATO protocols.
Both sides expressed confidence that the planned exercises would not only deepen Azerbaijan-NATO cooperation but also elevate the Azerbaijan Army’s operational training to NATO standards. The initiatives are expected to bolster collective security and contribute to peace and stability in the region.
Additionally, the professional involvement of Azerbaijani servicemen in peacekeeping missions and other NATO partnership initiatives was positively assessed.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a protocol of mutual understanding outlining the framework for the upcoming exercise, reaffirming the commitment to continued collaboration.
