NATO delegation visits South Korea for defence, security talks
A delegation of NATO ambassadors is visiting South Korea this week for talks on defence industry cooperation, as well as discussions on the situation surrounding North Korea and other regional issues.
South Korea's Foreign Ministry said the delegation includes representatives from 30 countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing Korean media.
The three-day visit to Seoul will last until April 15, amid deepening cooperation between South Korea and NATO, driven by Russia’s war against Ukraine and growing missile and nuclear threats from North Korea.
Foreign Minister Cho Hyun is scheduled to meet the delegation on April 14.
A briefing by Deputy Foreign Minister for Diplomatic Strategy and Intelligence Jeong Yeon-doo is also planned, along with an official dinner for the visiting ambassadors.
The Foreign Ministry noted that NATO’s interest in the Korean Peninsula and the Indo-Pacific region has increased significantly, with 30 ambassadors visiting unprecedented in scale.
In addition, the delegation is expected to visit a defence industry facility in South Korea to review the country’s industrial capabilities.
