Nearly 25 million votes already cast in US presidential election

24 October 2024 21:59

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris stated during a town hall in Pennsylvania that her administration would differ from President Joe Biden's, as Republican Donald Trump campaigned in Georgia, another crucial battleground state.

Harris's efforts to separate her campaign from Biden come amid polls indicating that the president may negatively impact her candidacy, with voters seeking a new direction as the November 5 election approaches, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

"My administration will not be a continuation of the Biden administration," Harris asserted during a CNN town hall. She emphasized her unique ideas and experience, representing a new generation of leadership. In Chester Township, she aimed to sway undecided voters in a tightly contested race where every vote counts.

Addressing attendees, Harris promised to combat high grocery prices, advocate for ending the war in the Middle East, and labelled Trump a "fascist" and a "danger to the well-being and safety of America." She also discussed her evolving stance on fracking, stating that consensus-building is more important than maintaining pride in a particular position. She has previously stated that she would not ban fracking if elected, a shift from her earlier campaign in 2019.

Regarding Supreme Court reform, Harris expressed support for studying potential changes, indicating that there should be some form of reform.

As of now, nearly 25 million voters have cast their ballots, either through early in-person voting or mail-in ballots, according to the University of Florida's Election Lab. Several battleground states, including North Carolina and Georgia, set early voting records.

At a religious-themed event in Zebulon, Georgia, Trump claimed that voting levels across states are at record highs. He is actively seeking to mobilize Christian evangelicals, urging them to overcome concerns about his controversial comments. Trump noted that his campaign is nearing its conclusion, reflecting on nearly nine years of political activity.

Harris criticized Trump's remarks, which were characterized by his former chief of staff, John Kelly, as fitting the "general definition of fascist." Trump's campaign has disputed Kelly's statements. Harris also attempted to persuade Trump to agree to a second presidential debate following their first encounter, which she was deemed to have won.
