NGOs from almost 100 countries to gather in Baku

The first-ever meeting of the Global South NGO Platform will take place in Baku this April, bringing together non-governmental organizations from nearly 100 countries. 

Ulviya Garayeva, Public Relations Manager of the Agency for State Support of NGOs, shared the details of the upcoming event with the local Report news agency, Caliber.Az.reports.

Garayeva highlighted the growing international cooperation between foreign NGOs and Azerbaijani civil society organizations, noting that foreign support for local initiatives has been steadily increasing in recent years.

The idea for the NGO Platform of the Global South was first proposed during the Baku Climate Conference of COP29. This significant initiative marks a historic moment for Azerbaijan, as it is the first time that civil society institutions from regions representing 71% of the world’s countries have expressed their support for Azerbaijani NGOs' efforts.
