Number of school attacks in Russia reaches record high PHOTO
Between September 2025 and the end of May 2026, at least 25 incidents involving attacks or weapon-related threats were recorded across Russian schools, colleges, technical schools, and universities, resulting in four deaths and 38 injuries—marking the highest figure in at least seven years, according to “Novaya Gazeta Europe.”
Experts link the rise in attacks not only to bullying and conflicts within educational institutions, but also to social isolation among teenagers, a lack of psychological support, and a broader increase in violence and militarisation in society.

Authorities, meanwhile, attribute the trend to external influence, including alleged recruitment of teenagers and the spread of information about attacks online.
The state has responded by increasing security measures, installing cameras and metal detectors, conducting counterterrorism drills, and monitoring students’ social media activity. Other initiatives include involving participants of the war in Ukraine in school security roles.
