NYP: Trump event shooter criticised lack of support for Ukraine
Cole Allen, who opened fire at a reception attended by US President Donald Trump, had previously condemned his reluctance to support Ukraine, the New York Post reports after reviewing the suspect’s social media activity.
According to Allen posted more than a thousand messages criticising the US administration. In particular, he used harsh language against Vice President JD Vance after he described the halt of direct weapons supplies to Ukraine in April as one of the administration’s key achievements.
“Allen frequently condemned the Trump administration across his 1,000+ posts, with his complaints seemingly heating up when the US support for Ukraine waned,” the publication said. The report also notes that Allen supported several fundraising initiatives for the Ukrainian armed forces.
Ahead of the attack, Cole Allen sent a manifesto to family members outlining his motives. He stated that he was unwilling to tolerate President Trump being forgiven for his crimes and therefore decided to carry out the assassination attempt. The suspect also described members of the administration as targets.
