Officials in Baku condemn hostile anti-Azerbaijan resolution adopted by French senate VIDEO
The adoption of a hostile resolution targeting Azerbaijan by the French senate has caused much irritation and strong reactions from the official Baku.
The Azerbaijani Ambassador to Germany, Nasimi Aghayev, responded by posting a video of French President Emmanuel Macron from 2020, in which he openly stated that the formerly called Nagorno-Karabakh region (today formally called Karabakh) and its 7 adjacent regions, which were illegally occupied by Armenian Armed Forces until their liberation in the course of the Second Karabakh war in 2020, are recognized as Azerbaijan under international law and recognized as such by the UN. In the video, he was answering an Armenian student’s question about why France did not intervene in the war.
Ambassador Aghayev's tweet reads, "Even the President of France confirmed the undeniable fact that Karabakh is Azerbaijan. He just reiterated what the UN has long established. No Senate resolution can change this legality. Armenia must respect international law & Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity!"
The National Madjlis [Parliament] of Azerbaijan held a plenary session on November 16 with members of parliament expressing their anger over the resolution which exhibits strong marks of having been sponsored by Armenian lobbyist parties.
MP Kamran Bayramov even referred to the resolution as a direct product of the Armenian lobby, according to Report, by saying, "I want to recall, that this resolution is the third document that the French parliament adopted against Azerbaijan within the last two years. This means, that those steps against our country are of determined nature and have become an integral part of its foreign policy. This shows, that the campaign of hatred against Azerbaijan will continue".
He further pointed to how France, a country that refers to itself as being the cradle of democracy and promotes principles such as freedom, equality and brotherhood has itself occupied tens of states during its bloody history and is today attempting to teach democracy and international law to others.
MP Vahid Ahmadov suggested the establishment of a working group in regard to this resolution during his parliament speech, Report wrote.
Several members pointed to the absurdity of the French resolution, such as Nigar Arpadarai. She noted, that the resolution is insignificant to Azerbaijan and posed the question of whether France and its leaders have a meaningful plan on how to fix their loss of credibility and reputation in the South Caucasus after this absurd resolution.
As APA reported, MP Tural Ganjaliyev expressed Azerbaijan’s bewilderment at how France can continue to remain a member of the UN Security Council after such a step which is a direct strike on the efforts of establishing lasting peace in the region. He also addressed France directly by asking how, in their mind, Azerbaijan could try to withdraw their armed forces from their own territories, and called this demand "grotesque".

Latest anti-Azerbaijani resolution by French Senate is absurd. It will lead to loss of credibility & reputation by #France in #SouthCaucasus. Not that it is of any significance for us,but I wonder if France and its leaders have any meaningful plan on how they are going to fix it.
