Oman, Germany urge diplomacy as Middle East conflict escalates
The Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, held a telephone conversation with Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the president of Germany, to discuss the escalating military conflict in the Middle East and its broader regional implications.
According to a statement posted by the Omani Foreign Ministry on X, the two leaders exchanged views on the intensifying hostilities in the region and their potential consequences for the security and stability of affected states.

During the call, Steinmeier condemned the recent attacks that impacted the Sultanate of Oman, as well as countries belonging to the Gulf Cooperation Council and other states across the region.
The sides underscored the urgent need to de-escalate the conflict and called for adherence to international law. They also stressed the importance of returning to diplomatic channels to help safeguard sovereignty, security and long-term stability in the Middle East.
