One dead, four injured after attack on Turkish fishing vessel in Black Sea
A Turkish-flagged fishing vessel has sunk in the Black Sea following an attack west of Crimea, leaving one fisherman dead and four others injured, according to Turkish Coast Guard Command.
The incident involved the vessel DURU 67, which was operating in open waters near Sevastopol when it sustained damage and went down, the Interior Ministry said. The Coast Guard reported that the cause of the attack has not yet been independently verified, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
Another fishing vessel, Burak Kaya, operating in the same area, rescued five crew members from the sinking boat. One of the injured later died while being transported to the port of İnebolu due to critical injuries.
Following the distress signal, the Coast Guard vessel TCSG-96 departed İnebolu at 12:35 p.m., carrying a 19-member medical team, including four doctors, as well as personnel from Türkiye's National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE).
The response team reached the Burak Kaya in the northern part of Türkiye's search and rescue zone at 7:20 p.m., where the body of the deceased and the injured survivors were transferred to a Coast Guard vessel. First aid was administered before the vessel returned to İnebolu.
