One of Azerbaijani martyrs killed by illegal Armenian armed gang members attended 44-day Patriotic War PHOTO

The senior lieutenant of the Azerbaijani army, Shahriyar Alibayli, who became a martyr as a result of the provocation of illegal Armenian formations on the morning of March 5, was a participant in the 44-day Patriotic War.

For his valours in the war for the liberation of our lands, Alibayli was awarded medals "For the liberation of Shusha" and "For the liberation of Khojavend" upon the orders of President Ilham Aliyev, Report informs.

He will be buried today in Baku. May God rests him in peace.

Alibayli was one of two servicemen of the Azerbaijani army killed in a confrontation with the armed Armenian gang members in Karabakh on March 5.

The criminals, who were attempting to smuggle weapons, ammunition and personnel from Armenia to Karabakh, resorted to arms in response to a request by the Azerbaijani troops for vehicle checking.

In a firefight that followed, two servicemen of the Azerbaijani army were killed, while the Azerbaijani forces liquidated three separatist gang members.
