OSCE PA pledges support for lasting peace between Armenia, Azerbaijan
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA) has expressed its readiness to support enduring peace efforts between Armenia and Azerbaijan, OSCE PA President Pere Joan Pons Sampietro said during the 32nd OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Vienna.
He noted that both Armenia and Azerbaijan are taking steps toward reconciliation, describing this progress as positive news, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Sampietro emphasised that the OSCE PA stands ready to assist lasting peace.
A reminder that a historic trilateral summit was held on August 8, 2025, at the White House, hosted by US President Donald Trump.
The Washington summit, the first of its kind since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, produced a joint declaration affirming the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the renunciation of force. It also established the foundation for a draft peace agreement titled “Agreement on Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia,” which was later initialled by the foreign ministers of both countries.
