Outgoing Mossad chief says toppling Iran's regime remains within reach
Outgoing Mossad chief David Barnea said Israel should remain committed to pursuing regime change in Iran, arguing that the Islamic Republic was at its weakest after the recent conflict and that efforts to topple its ruling system should remain a national priority.
Speaking at a retirement ceremony, Barnea said Israel should seek to capitalise on what he described as a moment of vulnerability for the Iranian leadership, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
“I believed, and I still believe, that a change in the reality in Iran by virtue of toppling the regime is a possible and achievable goal,” Barnea said.
He said achieving such an objective would require patience and determination.
“It will require persistence, a cool head, and commitment to the mission,” Barnea said.
“This mission must remain as our top priority,” he added.
Barnea also said Iran was at its weakest point after the recent war and that Israel should “complete the job.”
