Pakistan Navy assists stranded Indian vessel crew in Arabian Sea
The Pakistan Navy has provided humanitarian assistance to the crew of an Indian offshore tug and supply vessel that became stranded in the Arabian Sea.
The operation was carried out with the support of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), Dawn newspaper reported on Monday, May 4, citing security sources.
According to the report, the assistance mission was launched after the Maritime Rescue and Coordination Centre in Mumbai contacted Pakistani authorities to request help.
The vessel, identified as MV Gautam, was en route from Oman to India when the crew reported a technical fault, the sources said. The crew consisted of six Indian nationals and one Indonesian national.
Pakistani authorities provided emergency support to the stranded crew, including food, medical assistance and technical aid, while efforts to further assist the vessel were ongoing.
The report also noted that last month, the Pakistan Navy rescued 18 crew members, including foreign nationals, from a merchant vessel in the Arabian Sea following a distress call.
