Pakistan’s PM receives Trump offer to join Peace Council on Gaza
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has received an offer from U.S. President Donald Trump to join the Peace Council, which will oversee the Gaza Strip, the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic said.
“Pakistan will continue to participate in international efforts to ensure peace and security in Gaza, leading to a long-term settlement of the Palestinian issue in accordance with UN resolutions,” the ministry’s statement said, per Caliber.Az.
The “Peace Council” — officially referred to as the Board of Peace — is a central part of Trump’s comprehensive Gaza peace plan, endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803 in late 2025. It is designed as a transitional international governing and peace-oversight body for the Gaza Strip following the two-year conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Donald Trump announced he will chair the Board himself. A first set of members has begun to be named, which includes high-profile international figures and U.S. political leaders such as Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former British PM Tony Blair.
