Palestinian president condemns assassination of Hamas leader

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has sharply condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the chief of Hamas political bureau.

In a statement, Abbas denounced the killing as a cowardly act with potentially dangerous consequences, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

"Abbas considered the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh a cowardly act and a dangerous development. 

The President called on the Palestinian people to unite, be patient and steadfast in the face of the Israeli occupation.
