Pezeshkian says Iran holds no hostility toward Americans
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Wednesday, April 1, that Iran holds no hostility toward the American people, while warning that attacks on Iranian infrastructure directly affect civilians and could have consequences beyond the country’s borders.
In an address directed at the US public, Pezeshkian stated that Iran has never initiated a war, but has responded “firmly and courageously” to any aggression. He added that “portraying us as a threat is inconsistent with history and present realities.”
Describing the US military campaign as unjustified, Pezeshkian said that despite sustained pressure, “we have not weakened, but grown stronger in many areas, and what we are doing is a response based on the legitimate right of self-defence.”
Earlier, US President Donald Trump claimed that Iran’s president was seeking a ceasefire, referring to him as “Iran’s New Regime President.”
In a post on Social Truth, Trump appeared to be referring to Masoud Pezeshkian, despite there being no regime change in Iran. He wrote that Pezeshkian, “much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE!,” adding that the US would consider such a move once the Strait of Hormuz is “open, free, and clear.”
“Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!” Trump said.
