PM: Armenia sends first shipments of roses, vegetables to EU markets
Armenia has begun exporting agricultural products to European Union countries, with the first shipment of roses and vegetables already dispatched, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said.
Speaking during an election campaign event, Pashinyan said the exports are part of a broader effort to diversify Armenia’s trade markets, though he did not specify which EU country received the initial shipment, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“To the EU and so on [...]. The first shipment of roses and vegetables has already left; when it arrives, I’ll say which country it’s going to. Not a single product will be left behind. And we’re not just exporting to the EU. We’re already exporting to other countries as well,” he said.
The announcement comes as Armenia seeks to expand its export destinations following recent restrictions on certain agricultural goods entering Russia.
Pashinyan has previously pledged government support for affected exporters, including financial assistance and efforts to identify alternative markets.
Earlier, Russia’s consumer watchdog Rospotrebnadzor suspended the import and distribution of all batches of Armenian mineral water “Jermuk,” citing violations of mandatory requirements.
