PM Kobakhidze: EU interfering in Georgia instead of addressing its own problems
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said that the European Union is busy interfering in the democratic processes of other countries.
“Instead of focusing on overcoming its own economic challenges, European bureaucracy is preoccupied with interfering in the democratic processes of other countries, Kobakhidze said, according to Georgian media reports cited by Caliber.Az.
He cited statistics: “In 2008, the EU’s share of the global economy was 30%, now it is 17.5%. In 2008, China’s economy was $4 trillion, today it is about $18 trillion, having caught up with the EU, which has remained at roughly the same level. The US economy, which was $15 trillion, has now nearly doubled to $30 trillion,” Kobakhidze noted.
The premier added that European bureaucracy dislikes external interference in its own affairs, yet actively meddles in Georgia’s internal matters.
“They do not just interfere—they try to obstruct the country’s development process, which is a very sad phenomenon,” the prime minister emphasised.
