Poland seeks clarification from Ukraine on anti-corruption case
Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said Warsaw is awaiting clarification from Kyiv after reports emerged that Ukraine’s anti-corruption authorities conducted a search at the home of Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian president’s office.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office said the search is connected to an ongoing investigation into a major corruption scheme in the Ukrainian energy sector. Yermak has confirmed his willingness to cooperate with the investigation, Caliber.Az reports via Polish media.
Kosiniak-Kamysz described the timing of the scandal as particularly concerning, as it comes amid intensive peace consultations between Ukraine and the United States. He characterised the situation as bad news for both Poland and Europe and emphasised that the West expects transparency from Kyiv, especially given ongoing discussions about Ukraine’s European integration.
The minister added that while Poland’s strategy of supporting Ukraine remains unchanged, there are limits to security assistance and European integration cannot proceed without a transparent anti-corruption policy.
