Poland to build bomb shelters As per new law
The Polish authorities have nearly completed work on a law regarding the construction of bomb shelters.
This information was confirmed to the Polish media by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic, Tomasz Semoniak, according to Caliber.Az.
"The work on the law on civil defence and population protection is in its final stage. The Council of Ministers is scheduled to review the draft [of this law] on July 23," he said.
The main role in the new legislative act will be given to local authorities. They will be responsible for overseeing the mandatory construction of bomb shelters during the construction of apartment buildings, public institutions, underground garages, and infrastructure projects. Previously, the government of the country had the primary role in shelter construction regulations.
Under the new law, the number of shelter spaces must be at least 50% of the population in each locality.
The development of the new law has raised concerns in the construction industry, which is involved in housing construction, the newspaper writes. Experts from the Polish Union of Developer Firms claim that if the law is passed, it will delay the completion of 150,000 new apartments.
