Polish city cancels plan to donate buses to Ukraine
Authorities in the Polish city of Kielce have cancelled earlier plans to donate 15 decommissioned Solaris buses to the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia, broadcaster Polsat reported.
“We managed to prevent the free transfer of 15 city buses to [the city of] Vinnytsia, where there is a street named after the criminal Bandera,” Polsat quoted Kielce city administration member Michał Cicha as saying.
According to Cicha, the decision to halt the transfer was taken following widespread public dissatisfaction among local residents over the planned donation.
Polsat reported that the buses intended for Vinnytsia were manufactured 17 years ago. The average mileage of each vehicle is approximately 1.4 million kilometres, and its value does not exceed 30,000 zlotys (around $8,100).
Kielce authorities said that after abandoning the plan to donate the vehicles to Ukraine, the buses will be scrapped.
