Polish police chief raises alarm over potential crime wave after Ukraine war
Polish law enforcement agencies are anticipating a potential surge in crime once the war in Ukraine comes to an end, according to a report by Polish media.
Police Commander-in-Chief Marek Boron warned that many soldiers returning from the Ukrainian front are likely to arrive in Poland sooner or later, potentially bringing with them access to more advanced weaponry that could attract interest from criminal networks.
He added that organised crime groups are already preparing for the postwar period, expecting increased demand for narcotics and psychotropic substances. The general stated that numerous drug-production facilities are currently being set up across both Poland and Ukraine, while the security services of the two countries are working together to identify and dismantle these operations.
