Pope Francis calls "childlike" whims of leaders' reason for wars
Pope Francis of the Catholic Church has condemned the justification of violence through religion and said that powerful people are raging war on "childlike" whims.
He made this remark while attending the Bahrain Forum for Interfaith Dialogue in Manama from November 3 to 4, the Associated Press reported.
The Leader of the Catholic Faith further urged world leaders, without giving names, to act with caution, noting, that "It is a striking paradox that, while the majority of the world’s population is united in facing the same difficulties, suffering from grave food, ecological and pandemic crises, as well as an increasingly scandalous global injustice, a few potentates are caught up in a resolute struggle for partisan interests, reviving obsolete rhetoric, redesigning spheres of influence and opposing blocs", as was published by the Vatican News.
The event brought religious leaders from different faiths together, as well as representatives of cultures and other figures.
Among the attendees was King Hamad of Bahrain, Egypt's Grand Imam and Sheikh of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb and the Grand Mufti of the Caucasus Allahshukur Pashazade.
