Popular feature soon to stop working in Google Chrome
Google announced changes in the structure of the browser Chrome, which will make it incompatible with most of the current Internet ad blockers.
It is about the refusal of developers to use in the browser such a module as API Chrome Manifest V2, the publication Android Authority reports, referring to the blog of Google Chrome developers, according to Gazeta.ru.
The Chrome Manifest V2 API is a key component of most modern ad blockers. The Google Chrome team's announcement suggests that the browser will replace this module with the Chrome Manifest V3 API.
Manifest V2 will start being excluded from Chrome builds for developers in June 2024. There's no word on when the company will start dropping the tool in stable builds of the browser.
Ad blocker developers have already reacted to the announcement. They have started adapting their products to Manifest V3. Until then, they urged to use the Firefox browser, where Manifest V2 is still supported.
