Population growth becomes central focus for Russia, says Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin has stressed the importance of increasing the country’s birth rate, describing it as a key national priority.
Putin acknowledged that declining fertility rates are driven by objective factors but insisted that Russia must maintain a focus on expanding its population, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“At the same time, I would like to reiterate: our long-term historical task is the preservation and growth of our people,” he said.
The President emphasised that measures to support demographic growth should be guided by the needs of citizens.
“The system of support for children and childbirth must be based on the requests and requirements of the public, so that parents know what assistance and state support they can expect when having their first, second, or third child,” he said.
In addition, Putin called for measures to encourage active fatherhood in the country, aiming to increase men’s involvement in child-rearing.
“Family life is founded on mutual respect and the participation of both parents in raising children. Therefore, alongside support for motherhood, we must also consider measures to promote so-called engaged and responsible fatherhood,” the Russian leader added.
