Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev sent a letter to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"Dear Mr. President, my dear brother, the sixth anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt has been marked in Türkiye this year. We revere the memory of the martyrs who died to prevent an attempted coup d'état,” Caliber.Az reports with reference to the presidential website.

According to the message, while defending the independence and sovereignty of the homeland, statehood, and democracy, the fraternal Turkish people demonstrated true courage and heroism and once again proved their strength and greatness to the world six years ago.

“The "Day of Democracy and National Unity", established in connection with the July 15 events, shows the heroic people's commitment to their homeland and state, loyalty to statehood and democratic traditions,” the message said.

According to the message, people’s boundless faith and trust in you as the true leader of the fraternal people, their close unity around you played a decisive role in preventing betrayal directed against Türkiye, in overcoming this difficult problem of your country.

“This grandiose victory, which is a triumph of national unity and solidarity, unshakable will, and strong leadership, has been forever inscribed in the history of Turkish statehood,” the message said.

According to the message, Azerbaijan and its people, from the first minutes being close to fraternal Turkey and showing solidarity, condemned this insidious coup d'état attempt.

“Our peoples, who, on the basis of the “one nation - two states” principle, support each other both during joyful and sad days, rendering mutual support in difficult periods, prove their brotherhood. We will continue to be with Türkiye in all issues,” the message said.

“The Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations, based on friendship and brotherhood and on the will of our peoples, bound by inseparable ties, today have no analogues in the world. I am sure that we will continue to confidently move towards the goals of the alliance, which we defined in the Shusha Declaration, where we celebrated the first anniversary of its signing a month ago. Dear Mr. President, I wish you robust health, and success in your affairs while permanent peace and prosperity to the fraternal Turkish people,” the letter says.
